Good News Good Planet Schools is a revolutionary program that guides students to see themselves as part of the solution. With no religion and no politics, GNGP Schools uses 2-minute audio stories of actual good news from around the world to inspire kids to be solution-focused.

The accompanying curriculum helps them to strategize responses to issues that matter to them and actively participate in making their own world a better place.

Within the provided curriculum, teachers have a selection of activities designed for sixth to twelfth grade Language Arts and Social Studies.

This is a flexible program. We understand that the teachers’ time for planning and implementation is precious. Time commitment is anywhere from two to three weeks to a full semester.

Teachers who fully complete the curriculum will have theopportunity to work with Good News Good Planet Schools directly and be compensated for participating
in a post-program activity.

Global citizenship is an essential component to education in the 21st century.
GNGP Schools empowers young learners by helping them understand that local issues are also
global issues and their participation in finding solutions will instill the values, attitudes
and behaviors that promote a more peaceful and sustainable world.

Students learn best when they are personally invested, the learning is relevant to
their community, and they find deep meaning through authentic inquiry-based experiences.
For every class that finishes this program, at least one, if not multiple,
Service-Learning Projects will be completed.

Since the global pandemic, so many kids are struggling with the burden of futility,
depression and a heightened anxiety. Learning how to identify problems and take action
to solve them, is a powerful tool that can also aid in the healing within themselves.

With GNGP Schools, both the teacher and the students will gain a life-long understanding of just
how personally powerful they are, and how effective they can be in making their own lives
as well as the lives of those around them, better.

In just the first GNGP Schools program so far, participants…

• Raised money and supplies for the people of Ukraine.
• Collected goods for local food pantries.
• Baked treats for the animal shelter.
• Addressed local issues of mental health and homelessness.
• Recorded their own good news stories.
• Connected with local radio stations to have their voices heard regarding gun violence and
  included an accompanying audio file to be aired.
• Created ‘rivers of stone’ on their Southwestern campus to bring awareness to water scarcity.
